Multimedia Designer

Demographica is a marketing agency that helps large B2B companies grow their revenue in Africa by transforming how they engage buyers, grow customers, and enable their marketing and sales teams. Main purpose of role:                          

  • Create visual concepts, to communicate ideas that inspire and are on brief.
  • You will be accountable for designing collateral for multiple platforms, illustration, videos, presentations, books, banners etc.

Key responsibilities:                              

  • Understand brief & deliver on brief on-time
  • To develop the overall layout & production design
  • Possess web development skills
  • To ensure smooth running of all internal activities which ultimately result in delivery to client
  • Produce creative work that shows ideation and demonstrates an understanding of strategy
  • Ensure adherence to client/brand CI when producing work
  • Working with team including Copywriter (and Art Director) to ensure creative work produced is on-brief and ahead of deadline
  • Ownership of your role includes: Taking a brief, Conceptualisation, Graphic Design and may include presentation
  • Artwork aligned to client CI and brief/requirements
  • To assist in solving problems
  • Supporting team on projects from inception to completion under their guidance
  • You are required to develop an understanding of the full range of services Demographica offers and be able to work with Centre of Excellence to learn and grow
  • Coming up with innovative, creative designs & ideas.
  • Strong conceptual ability and excellent time management skills are required to meet very tight deadlines.

  • Be able to conceptualise and execute design work for digital & traditional media and stay on top of industry trends.
  • Ensure that brand guidelines are followed and improved on.
  • Design including but not limited to billboards, banners, brochures, reports, emailers, pamphlets, stickers, merchandise, advertisements
  • These concepts also need to scale for digital platforms, willing to push more creative work on digital platforms
  • A high-level understanding of Digital advertising integration, social media, and SEO optimisation for design collateral
  • Design of creative content for all social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram & Youtube)
  • UI design and supply of creative assets for website and mobile applications. A high-level understanding of responsive design, bootstrap, HTML, CSS, Android design & iOS design is required.
  • The implementation of consistent Quality Control – both internally and externally, on every platform used and, in any format, required.
  • User Experience and User Interface design for mobile devices, by producing user journeys,

    Additional area of focus:  

    • Keeping up to date with trends & technologies, systems, and software
    • Be well organised, by having a professional approach to time, costs and deadlines
    • Participating in briefing and brainstorming sessions
    • Understanding of the B2B production process across all communication channels including print, digital, mobile, activations and DM
    • Exposure to project briefs and budgets

    Expected at this level:                          

    • Understanding of timing plans and ensure no deadlines are missed
    • Colour correction, Image correction, Sizes & Specs to be checked against brief, Artwork supplied in requested format
    • Systematic approach to each brief
    • Implement direction set by Client Success team, Ops and Studio Lead
    • Learn how to improve your interpretation of (and delivery against) design briefs by asking the right questions from the outset
    • You are required to have an understanding to the Client brand and CI
    • An understanding of how to achieve and develop creative thinking (support client brief) to achieve clients’ needs – and result in successful, approved creative work
    • Good time-management
    • Ability to manage multiple tasks in parallel
    • Ability to communicate clearly via email and in person
    • Implement direction set by Client Success and Strat where relevant
    • Understand how to manage integration between various agencies working on the client’s account
    • Understanding of the B2B production process across all communication channels including print, digital, mobile, activations and DM

    • Take criticism/feedback and apply changes or motivate for the changes not to be made

    Day-to-Day expectation:  

    • Work on creative projects from the starting point of initiating creative proposals and project plans, through to project completion. 
    • Support Production & Execution in terms of active understanding of the brief, deliverables and timing.
    • Support team to enable execution of deliverables to manage the creative & technical work activities relating to the client requirement/brief
    • To ensure smooth running of all internal activities which ultimately result in delivery to client
    • To assist in solving problems, drafting internal and external communications
    • Ensure regular communication between Studio and other CoE (specifically Ops, Production and Client Success)
    • Working closely with the (Creative Director), Senior Copywriter and Art Director which informs the expectation on the Studio
    • Learn to balance the creative vision and objectives with running an efficient, lean and effective team.
    • Understand and groom your eye for detail in terms of standard of completion of projects
    • Monitor, check and update all creative work is shared internally on-time and saved in the appropriate place
    • Timings are discussed and agreed to up-front

    Minimum Requirements:


    • An industry relevant qualification in Design/Visual Communications, Copy, Marketing, Communications or Advertising
    • Alternatively, you have a business Degree or Tertiary technical Diploma
    • Minimum 2 years’ experience working in a Designer/DTP role.
    • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite Software Applications
    • Understanding of the relevant structures and processes in the agency
    • Min 5 years’ experience with a strong design portfolio across multiple platforms.
