Conceptual Writer

Position Description

Responsible for producing B2B creative work on assigned clients. Originating and producing effective B2B creative work that results in innovative and compelling advertising with measurable results.

This position is expected to conceptualize and work with the strategy communications team including the Anthropologists to produce outstanding award winning B2B creative work within the scope of the brand and creative brief supplied by client.

Main Areas of Responsibility:

Creative Work

  • To act as directed by the strategy, research and the Creative Brief
  • Crafting copy
  • Conceptualizing
  • Ensure deadlines are met
  • Presentation of work to the Head of Strat Comms
  • Together with Art Director, generate effective, innovative and compelling B2B creative concepts based on sound strategies
  • Pro-actively identify creative trends and opportunities
  • Management of outsource partners and review of copy work

Execution

  • Using the MAC or PC to produce high quality B2B creative work
  • Work closely with Art Director and Client service team to develop award-winning B2B advertising and promotional campaigns within the parameters of the creative brief – conceptualizing
  • Copywriting and craft concepts into original, relevant and impactful communications and follow through to the completion of the job whilst maintaining explicit attention to detail and adhering to time scales.
  • Give constructive input during recordings if required
  • Ensure that all deadlines are met
  • Check every aspect of every job thus eliminating errors and work going out is of the highest quality including the work from outsourced partners
  • Create B2B ATL, BTL and Digital crafted copy
  • Direct work in any channel towards a high quality final product
  • Strive for excellence
  • Present competently in reviews and to client, articulating clearly the creative rationale for the work being presented

Experience

  • 5 years plus advertising and marketing experience, preferably in a Digital and B2B environment
  • Copywriting background
  • A portfolio that reflects creative proficiencies
  • Creative judgement ability including outsourced partner management
  • Ability to deliver creative work of distinction
  • Resilient – can accept setbacks and criticism
  • Exceptional conceptual skills
  • Understanding of promotional activities and experiential marketing disciplines
  • Finely honed copywriting skills
  • Fully Mac or PC literate in all relevant programs
  • Proficiency in Keynotes
  • Think with imagination and flair – someone who has original ideas
  • Is articulate and meticulous

Qualification

  • Matric
  • Tertiary qualification in Communications, English, PR, copywriting, Journalism(minimum 3 years study)
