Business Unit Director
Main purpose of role: To have complete accountability, management and development of all client relationships whilst managing team & building strong internal relationships.
Responsible for managing the overall ‘health’ and profitability of your/the agreed portfolio of clients
Key responsibilities:
- You will be responsible for managing an existing portfolio of clients strategically working closely with internal teams.
- Working closely with internal teams, to manage existing client portfolios.
- Ensure adequate support & manageable workload
- Ensure timeous delivery to client whilst ensuring you adhere to budgets managing spend
- Drive budgets- managing spend and proposing more cost-effective or innovative ways of maximising spend against ROI
Expected at this level:
- Manage all briefs and ensure adequate support for team as well as manageable workload resulting in superb delivery to client
- Integration between various agencies working on the client’s account
- Communicate expectation & manage delivery, budgets and reports
- Support of internal team: Involved & Supportive
- Create strong, professional relationships with clients, at all levels, but particularly at a senior level
- Encourage client to make the transition from ‘advertising agency’ (supplier) to strategic marketing & Brand partner (valued provider)
- Ensure understanding of the relevant client contract and relevant legal/regulatory guidelines
Day-to-Day expectation:
- Oversee all day-to-day activities relating to the client account
- Overall delivery of client briefs through active team management and distribution of workload
- Ensure clear understanding of the client’s business requirements and translate this into clear deliverables for your team
- Drive the adherence to strategy across agency and client
- Seek proactive opportunities which will add-value to client
- Work in partnership with the creative teams to provide excellent creative solution for your client’s needs at all times
- Manage and grow your direct reports within the agency, and create a positive approach within that team to ensure that it remains highly motivated
- Allocate resources within your team to maximise skill set and client coverage
Ownership of role/Going beyond
- Coach and mentor individuals to develop the skills and talent that exist within the agency
- Create clear Goals for your team and yourself in line with business and individual needs
- Build respect and loyal commitment in your team
- Ensure thorough knowledge of Demographica business
- Ensure knowledge of HR/Talent processes
- Support the pro-active recruitment and development of the best account teams
- Work with all departments to improve efficiencies and delivery on all accounts
- Adhere to and ensure adherence to company performance and behaviour expectations e.g. timekeeping, timeous completion of timesheets, Company Policies and Procedures etc.
Minimum Requirements:
- Ideally you have completed an industry relevant qualification in Marketing, Communications or Advertising
- Alternatively, you have a business Degree or Tertiary Diploma
- Minimum 10 years’ experience working in a GAD/BUD capacity or at a Senior level
Experience
- Experience managing teams and large accounts
- At least 8 years’ having been directly accountable to work with client, liaise and engage on (illustrating sound understanding) budgets, price quotes/CEs and invoices
A sound knowledge of the relevant structures and processes in the agency
